Disney Plans New Theme Park Attractions

New theme park attractions will highlight The Incredibles, Guardians of the Galaxy and other Disney properties.

NORTH AMERICA–The Walt Disney World Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Fla., will unveil a host of new attractions and entertainment options this summer.

First, Magic Kingdoms’ Tomorrowland will be taken over by Disney Pixar superheroes including Mr. Incredible, Elastigirl and Frozone from The Incredibles. Tomorrowland will also welcome character Edna Mode for the first time and offer guests the opportunity to partake in a “super” dance party on the Rocket Tower Stage. The attraction will also help promote Incredibles 2, which opens in theaters nationwide on June 15,.

Furthermore , Epcot’s America Gardens Theatre will add Star-Lord and Gamora from Guardians of the Galaxy to its alien music band. The experience will feature songs from the film franchise’s soundtracks, “Awesome Mix Tapes 1 and 2.”

Meanwhile, Disney’s Animal Kingdom will celebrate its 20th anniversary with two new experiences. The first will see Donald Duck take over Dinoland U.S.A. with prehistoric elements and character celebrations. The second will see the launch of Explorers Meet Up! A Great Bird Adventure, which will feature Russell and Dug from the film Up as they explore bird species from around the world.

Next, Disney’s Hollywood Studios will open Toy Story Land, an 11-acre park inspired by the Toy Story franchise. Guests will experience a variety of new attractions including Slinky Dog Dash, Swirling Saucers, Woody’s Lunch Box and Toy Story Mania.

Finally, Disney Springs will unveil its first new offerings including "Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire," a hyper-reality experience from Lucasfilm, ILMxLAB and The Void. The park will also debut a variety of new bars and restaurants including The Edison, an "industrial gothic" restaurant and bar; Maria & Enzo's, an open and airy Italian trattoria featuring dishes inspired by Sicily; Terralina Crafted Italian, a new concept from Chef Tony Mantuano; and Wine Bar George, the only Master Sommelier-led wine bar in Florida.
