Disney Details Star Wars Micro-Series

Hasbro will also support the new micro-stories with new Adventure Figures, role play items, accessories and more.

Disney and Lucasfilm have revealed “Star Wars Forces of Destiny,” a new series of animated shorts and toys that celebrate the stories of multiple heroes from across the Star Wars universe.

The new micro-series will highlight a host of new adventures for key characters from the franchise including Rey, Jyn Erso, Sabine Wren, Princess Leia and Ahsoka Tano, among others.

"‘Star Wars Forces of Destiny’ is for anyone who has been inspired by Leia’s heroism, Rey’s courage or Ahsoka's tenacity,” says Kathleen Kennedy, president, Lucasfilm. "We’re thrilled that so many of the original actors are reprising their roles in these shorts which capture the small moments and everyday decisions that shape who these characters are. It is a fun new way for people to experience Star Wars."

Additionally, the new animated shorts will be supported by a line of toys from Hasbro, including new Adventure Figures, which are a fusion of traditional dolls and action figures. The toy company will also roll out role play items and accessories, such as Rey’s Extendable Staff, a Jedi Power Lightsaber toy and more.

In addition to the new toy line, “Star Wars Forces of Destiny” will also be supported by global product extensions in categories such as books, apparel and bedding.

“As the Star Wars fan base has broadened over the last 40 years, we have continued to add new and exciting play experiences to the Star Wars brand, to engage fans across generations,” says John Frascotti, president, Hasbro. “We’ve worked closely with Disney to bring the storytelling from ‘Star Wars Forces of Destiny’ to life through this innovative toy line to help connect with new audiences as well as appeal to existing fans.”

Star Wars Forces of Destiny” will launch this July on Disney’s YouTube channel. It will also air as a two-part TV special featuring eight additional shorts on Disney Channel this fall. Fans attending the Star Wars Celebration in Orlando, Fla., this Friday will also see a sneak peek of the micro-series during the “Heroines of Star Wars” panel.
